BA Honours student Hadae Kim received some “fantastic” advice from alumni recently when she took up part-time work as a caller for the University’s telephone appeal.
She says the best part of the job was connecting with alumni.
“I loved talking with them and I was inspired by all the amazing work our alumni are accomplishing around the world.”
She also received some memorable advice for when she enters the full-time job market: “show initiative, be patient, and persist – success will not happen overnight”.
Hadae was one of 33 students who manned the call centre for the phone appeal, which ran from late March until early May, to support the Alumni Scholarships Fund. Together they made contact with 4,000 alumni around the world and received generous gifts and pledges from 748, which will fund 30 student scholarships.
“Even though I may never meet these deserving students, I know that these scholarships will be life-changing for them. I feel blessed to have been part of creating something special, something that will provide a better future for these students.”
We want to acknowledge and thank all of the alumni who so generously gave their time and their financial support through the telephone appeal.
