Mark Bentley

Director, Alumni Relations and Development

After an enjoyable corporate marketing career in the UK, I moved to New Zealand in 2001 with a drive to connect generous people with worthy causes in my newly adopted country. Since then I have led philanthropic ventures in academia and the not-for-profit sector.

In my current position, I have a global role connecting and reconnecting alumni. Also, as the organisation’s “Chief Development Officer” I am responsible for leading the team that promotes the University's change agenda for New Zealand to potential supporters.

Before re-joining the University of Auckland in 2013, I was founding Chief Executive of the Auckland Communities Foundation, a charitable trust that supports strong communities in the city.

I have a BA (Hons) from Lancaster University in English Literature, a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma from Manchester Polytechnic and an MBA from the University of Auckland.
